Attenuator / dB Voltage Divider
Design from target attenuation and input impedance (optional load), or analyze an existing divider. Compare with nearest E-series resistors.
Invalid input. For design: dB > 0 and Zin > 0 (and Rload < Zin·A). For analyze: R1,R2 > 0.
Using your values (ideal)
Using nearest standard
A = Vout/Vin = R2 / (R1 + R2) (no load). With load Rload, use R2′ = R2 || Rload, then A = R2′ / (R1 + R2′). dB = −20·log₁₀(A).
